So you’ve booked your Bali trip and counting down the days till you jet off to paradise. But now comes the dreaded question of what you’re going to pack? You’re just a girl who wants to give cute, comfy, and stylish vibes but somehow fit everything in one suitcase/backpack (we’ve all been there). Don’t stress – this guide will help you nail the balance between stylish and practical because, let’s face it, you’re just a girl trying to figure it all out.
1. Clothes You’ll Actually Wear
Ignore your mind telling yourself you need to overpack a million ‘just in case’ outfits. Bali’s tropical weather calls for breathable, light pieces you can mix and match – trust me you’ll thank yourself! Here’s what you should pack:
- Dresses That Do It All: Flowy linen dresses are going to be your MVP. Think easy breezy but still looking chic. Flowy dresses are the perfect coverup over your swimsuit, temple visits, beach days or cafe dates.
- Co ord Linen or Cotton Sets: A matching set is the girlie cheat code to looking put together with zero – effort. Opt for nuetral colour that will match any outfit!
- Beach Cover Ups and Sarongs: You’ll come to realise items with multiple uses will be your saviour during your travels. A beach cover up offers style for any day out or visit to a beach club but also can be dressed up with accessories to become your evening dinner outfit.
2. Swimwear Goals
Bali = Swimwear central. You’ll be spending most of your time wearing these pack a mixture of styles and colours. P.s keep space in your suitcase for some super cute bikini from the Bali Markets – I bought the cutest pink crotchet bikini!
- Versatile One Piece: Perfect for any pool day, a one piece is essential and also works as a cute top with a pair of shorts for your daily excursions. Effeciency is key!
- Statement Bikini or Swimsuit: Whether you’re taking ‘that holiday’ pic by the pool or heading to one of Bali’s breathtaking beach clubs such as Finn’s Beach Club, go for bold colours or patterns to make you feel like the main character! Nothing’s too big if you ask me!
3. Shoes That Won’t Kill Your Vibe (or Your Feet)
Let’s face it, you’re going to be walking a lot. So keep it comfy but cute. And no you don’t need heels unless you want to!
- Strappy Sandals: Great for sightseeing or beach strolls, your sandals will be your go -to throughout the trip! Opt for a nuetral tone to match everything
- Flip- Flops: Flip -flops are your go-to for any pool, beach or communal showers if you’re staying in a hostel!
- Sturdy Trainers: For any adventures involving walking (Mount Batur or Lempuyang Temple), make sure you pack a handy pair of trainers! You can even use these as your travelling footwear if you don’t have the space in your suitcase.
4. Accessories To Elevate Your Look
Beauty is in the accessories!
- Uniqlo Bag: I will forever stand against this one! You know exactly what bag I’m talking about. There is a reason everyone has this bag and that is simply because it’s the best thing to ever exist. A minamalist bag yet full of room! Great for your day trips! Want to take it to the next level? Add a cute flower hair clip to the strap for added aesthetic.
- Chunky Gold Jewellery: I am a gold girlie through and through. No outfit is complete with some chunky hoops or studded earrings to add that touch of instant glam to your holiday outfit. Silver works wonders too.
- Wide Brim Hat: Practical yet still cute. Plus, no one wants a sunburned scalp.
5. Beauty and Skincare Basics
No need to overpack your whole skincare routine. Stick to these essentials:
- Sunscreen or SPF: A must-have to protect your skin from the Bali sun! Aloe Vera Gel for any girls who are prone to burning!
- Minimal Makeup: Think tinted moisturiser, waterproof mascara and a lip/cheek tint combo! Trust me, you”ll most likely sweat it off anyways!
- Bug Spray: You’re going to get bitten, so investing in a good spray is worth it!
- Hair Mask: You can buy shampoo and conditioner bits during your trip, but a little pot of hair mask will do your hair wonders! Bali water quality isn’t great!
6. A Few Practical Must-Haves
Yes, you want to be stylish, but a little practicality never hurt anyone:
- Packing Cubes: If you have to buy one thing for your suitcase, let it be this. Packing cubes are a great way to organise your outfits to save yourself scrambling through your clothes during your trip! Amazon do so many different ones, I got these!
- Travel Adapter: Bali uses Type C plugs, so bring one or risk not charging your phone!
- Reusable Water Bottle: Hydration is key.
- Travel Bank Card: Take card and cash as a safe option.
- Disposable Camera: make your memories last a lifetime with a digital or disposable camera.
- Electrolytes: Keep your immune system in top form with daily vitamins.
Packing for Bali doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Keep it simple, stick to versatile pieces, and remember – you’re just a girl figuring it all our as you go. You aren’t obligated to get everything on this list, but these tips will hopefully give you an idea of how you can slay your Bali vacay whilst still having space in your suitcase for those dreamy Bali boutique markets.
